PLATEAUX

ist ein internationales Produktionsfestival für junge KünstlerInnen im Bereich von experimentellem Theater, Performance und Live Art. Initiiert durch das KÜNSTLERHAUS MOUSONTURM - bis 2010 in Koproduktion mit der DEUTSCHE BANK STIFTUNG - bietet das Festival eine professionelle Plattform für neue Arbeiten. Die ausgewählten Projekte erhalten neben dem Produktionsbudget, technische und dramaturgische Beratung, Proberesidenzen und Unterstützung bei der internationalen Vernetzung. Das PLATEAUX FESTIVAL produziert einmal im Jahr neue Produktionen, die während des mehrtägigen Festivals im April uraufgeführt werden.

PLATEAUX FESTIVAL 2011

2010 präsentierte die zehnte Ausgabe des PLATEAUX Festivals vor rund 1200 BesucherInnen 9 neue Produktionen junger KünstlerInnen und Kollektive aus 12 verschiedenen Ländern. Zudem wurde das Jubiläum dazu genutzt, die letzten Jahre kritisch zu reflektieren und einen Ausblick auf das kommende Jahrzehnt zu wagen. Welchen Anforderungen hat sich ein Produktionsfestival wie PLATEAUX zu stellen, welche Prämissen und Schwerpunkte sind möglicherweise zu setzen und welche Entwicklung wird das mittlerweile etablierte wie renommierte Festival hierbei nehmen? Unter dem Motto "where to go from here?" wurde sowohl die Frage gestellt, was durch PLATEAUX verändert wurde als auch wodurch sich PLATEAUX verändert hat. Von der INTERNATIONALEN PLATTFORM FÜR JUNGE THEATERREGIE zum Kaleidoskop NEUER POSITIONEN INTERNATIONALER DARSTELLENDER KUNST war es ein ebenso ereignis- wie abwechslungsreicher Weg. Viele junge KünstlerInnen hat PLATEAUX bei der Entwicklung ihrer Produktionen begleitet, deren Premieren häufig erstmals vor einer breiteren, internationalen Öffentlichkeit geschahen und sich in der Folge als Sprungbrett oder Motor für den weiteren Werdegang entpuppten. Zu nennen wären an heutzutage bekannten Gruppen beispielsweise Rimini Protokoll, She She Pop, Ivana Müller, Kate McIntosh, Chris Kondek, Monster Truck oder Boris Nikitin u.v.m..



Um etwas Zeit zur Neujustierung und -strukturierung zu haben, vor allem aber um diesem 10-jährigen Prozess ein größeres Augenmerk zu widmen, wird PLATEAUX 2011 als Gastspiel-Festival und nicht als Produktionsfestival stattfinden. Plateaux 2011 wird den Brückenschlag von der Vergangenheit zur Gegenwart vollziehen, indem von Ende April bis Anfang Mai im bunten Reigen einstige PLATEAUX-KünstlerInnen ihre aktuellen Arbeiten an der Stätte ihres früheren Wirkens und Werkelns präsentieren werden. Das Künstlerhaus Mousonturm holt sie zurück und zeigt sie neu im Rahmen von " PLATEAUX and guests 2011" - einem Gastspiel-Festival mit alten Bekannten und jungen Produktionen!

PLATEAUX

is an international production festival for young artists in the field of experimental theatre, performance and live-art. Initiated by KÜNSTLERHAUS MOUSONTURM and co-produced by DEUTSCHE BANK STIFTUNG, the festival aims to promote new experimental forms of performance by providing them with a professional platform. The festival offers beside the production budgets, technical and artistic advice, rehearsal residencies and connections into international networks. PLATEAUX FESTIVAL produces once a year up to seven new productions to be premiered in the 10 days festival in April.

Plateaux FESTIVAL 2011

In 2010 within the 10th edition of PLATEAUX, about 1200 visitors have experienced 9 new productions of young artists and collectives coming from 12 different countries. Moreover, the jubilee festival has been the frame to reflect on the last years and to undertake an outlook on the next decade. What are the needs that a production festival has to satisfy, which premises and focal points have to be set and what kind of development will a well-established and well-known festival like PLATEAUX go through? The motto "where to go from here?" raises the question about changes that have been evoked by PLATEAUX as well as what has changed PLATEAUX. From the INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM FOR YOUNG THEATRE DIRECTORS to the kaleidoscope of NEW POSITIONS IN INTERNATIONAL PERFORMING ARTS, it has been an exciting and eventful way. PLATEAUX has accompanied a lot of young artists to develop their productions and to present them to a wide international audience. Premieres that often turned out to be a stepping stone and motor for their future development. Examples are Rimini Protokoll, She She Pop, Ivana Müller, Kate McIntosh, Chris Kondek, Monster Truck and Boris Nikitin, just to name a few.

To gain some time for readjusting and -structuring after this reflection of the festival's own position mentioned above, but first and foremost to pay some more attention to the last 10 years, PLATEAUX 2011 is going to undertake a bridging from the past to the present when a varied group of erstwhile PLATEAUX artists will present their current works at the place of their early creations. Mousonturm brings them back and presents them anew within "PLATEAUX and guests 2011" - a guest performance event with old friends and young productions!
