1. Offenbacher Seefestspiele
Thu. 06. — Sun. 09.07.2017

Wastelands, puddles, concrete, wood, four weeks to prepare and seven artists attending – these are the ingredients of the 1. Offenbacher Seefestspiele. The YRD.Works collective transforms the contested Offenbach harbour into a utopian space with a four-piece series performed in a hybrid mix of water basin, walk-in sculpture and stage. Artistic accomplices: the music duo Les Trucs – best known for DIY experimental electronic devices, choir sounds, motors and other acoustic ready-mades – and the contact Gonzo collective, shocking audiences from New York to Tokyo with their playfully breakneck performances. Together, they uncover the fantastic potential lying dormant under the harbour.

Installation/ Performance/ Music*German, English, Japanese*By and with: contact Gonzo (Takuya Matsumi, Keigo Mikajiri, Yuya Tsukahara, NAZE), Les Trucs (Charlotte Simon, Zink Tonsur), YRD.Works (David Bausch, Yacin Boudalfa, Ruben Fischer)

The Japanese collective contact Gonzo is looking for 15 people to join a performance on July 7th 2017 in the context of 1. Offenbacher Seefestspiele (1. Lake Festival in Offenbach).

With its interventions that are performed in museums, theatres, parking lots and stadiums, contact Gonzo blurs the borders between choreography, fight club and visual arts. Its performances are based on an improvisational technic that is an idiosyncratic interpretation of contact improvisation applying trust, a high sensitivity and an exceptional use of the movement flow. At the moment, contact Gonzo is considered as on of the most exciting performance groups in Japan. Its exhibitions and performances have been presented all over the world among others at MOMA New York and the Tokyo Museum. Last year, contact Gonzo performed in Frankfurt as part of the Mousonturm production “The Greatest Show on Earth – A Performance-Circurs for the 21st century”.

In the context of 1. Offenbacher Seefestspiele, a joint project of Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and the collective YRD.Works, contact Gonzo develops four performances in collaboration with YRD.Works and the music duo Les Trucs. The performances will be presented between July 6th and 9th 2017. As a performance site, YRD.Works is creating an exceptional sculpture in front of the exhibition space “Kressemann-Halle” in the former harbor. Its center is a water basin that is about 500 sqm large and 7 cm to 45 cm high.

For July 7th, contact Gonzo, YRD.Works and Les Trucs want to create a performance in which two groups will compete with each other and for which they need 15 collaborators.

We are looking for 15 individuals, movement lovers, budding performance artists and the living and the curious who have a sense for physical and group processes, are not afraid to get wet and who want to try out unusual things. Professional experience is not a must.

The performance will be prepared in a workshop consisting of five parts. Workshop dates are:

Sat. 24.6.  2-6 pm
Thurs. 29.6.  2-6 pm
Fri. 30.6.  2-6 pm
Tue. 4.7.  4-8 pm

The workshop and the performance take place in front of Kressmann-Halle, Hafen 13 in Offenbach.
