Intact Bodies?

Mousonturm

Lecture

Introductory Lecture

What does it mean for an individual body, for the body of a collective, to be safe or unharmed? This opens up to self-chosen and imposed decisions on the intactness and woundedness of bodies in the context of current political and civic protest as well as to small-scale, everyday and intimate life decisions. Between biopolitics and radical self-empowerment, the question remains how art and science can contribute to understanding this increasingly ambivalent experience of the body’s integrity. The programme begins by disclosing some of the central issues motivating “Bodies, un-protected” and introducing the participants and the project’s ways of working.
