1. Frankfurter Tulpenschau

Mousonturm Studio 1

Performance/Installation

Experience the versatility of the Tulipa for the first time at Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and immerse yourself in the colourful history of tulip mania! This proud plant has been an object of speculation since the 17th century and the rapid fall in tulip prices is considered the first stock market crash in history. To this day “tulip fever” holds sway as stock prices rapidly rise and fall. But be it fever or mania, Hendrik Quast and Maika Koblick will help tend the tulip back to health. The old currencies, the monetary value and worth of tulip beauty, require a new rate of exchange. The 1. Frankfurter Tulpenshau (1. Frankfurt Tulip Show)  is a mixture of theatre and exhibition. Tulips have been growing in the Mousonturm foyer since January and will bloom just in time for the opening. The tulip show will then present a “curiosity cabinet” of various botanical and historical specimens, as well as a specially produced instructional film on “300 years of Tulip Mania”. The “Open Greenhouse Hour” is dedicated to questions of cultivation, reproduction and duplication, bringing masterpieces of art history to life.
