Mousonturm Studio 1

Choreography/Dance

“Movements are the wildest, freest, most irresponsible and unteachable of all things. Of course, they can be captured, sorted and organized as forms or image, and this produces concepts, thoughts. But movements do not exist as thoughts; they exist in the body.” To retransform these conceptual thoughts by author Virginal Woolf back into the wildest movements is the driving force behind May Zarhy and Kathryn Enreight’s new choreography 1325. And so, the two choreographers and dancers freely navigate their way through the space, in search of myriads of nuances, always just on the verge of capturing the distance between a thing and its meaning. Are there movements, which express forms that actually are what they are – what they really are? And just when you thought you had figured it out, the question arises anew. As one part of the choreographic trio MAMAZA, May Zarhy is currently artist in residence at Künstlerhaus Mousonturm. 1325 is her first collaboration with American artist Kathryn Enright.
