Abecedarium Bestiarium – Portraits of Affinities in Animal Metaphors

Mousonturm Saal

Performance

For Abecedarium Bestiarium, Berlin choreographer and filmmaker Antonia Baehr invited artist friends to write compositions for her about an extinct animal. The resulting short pieces are performance metaphors for both the relationship between the authors and the performer on the one hand as well as reflections on the symbolic dimension of the human-animal relationship on the other. Binary models of thinking and normative categories such as sex/gender, race, time and species are abandoned in this alphabet of strange creatures, brought on stage by one of Germany’s most unconventional artists in an extensive scenario that meanders between all art forms.
