Ingrid is an open wound. Having escaped the small town stench of her hometown and her alcoholic mother years ago, she muddles through working at a live sex bar in Frankfurt, while taking care of her brother, who is sinking ever deeper into drugs. But then a reunion with her mother eliminates what little stability she had left. Alles ist jetzt is Julia Wolf’s debut and the title says it all: past and present, happiness, humour and tragedy all merge in Ingrid and her story – finally a novel about Frankfurt in which dirt and poetry lie as closely together as in the streets around the main train station.
In German.
