Better close the shutters

Mousonturm Atelier 2

“Better close the shutters” is a sound piece that is based on a series of interviews conducted from 2018 to 2019 with Marie, a woman from Pors-Even, a fisherman’s village facing Paimpol’s bay and archipelago in the Côtes-d’Armor in Bretagne. In Breton, Côtes-d’Armor translates as Aodoù-an-Arvor, which means “coasts of the sea country.” Zoé Le Voyer has been a Fellow of “Bodies, un-protected” since 2021. With “Better close the shutters”, she shares an exercise in listening to stories passed on by women from coastal communities and weaves reflections about the continuity between bodies and water, loss and grief.
