Faces are permanently being produced and staged; they become symbols, brands. Thanks to smartphones, we gaze upon ourselves, face in hand at the end of an outstretched arm. As projection surfaces and figureheads, business cards and profiles, faces are in constant demand and under surveillance, are given, read, saved or lost. The face is prerequisite to being visible at all. The choreographic performance Blickfeld targets the dominance and magnitude of the facial image and questions visibility and the gaze in theatre.
