CUTLASS SPRING

Mousonturm Saal/Bau

Performance

In her haunting solo “CUTLASS SPRING” Canadian choreographer Dana Michel delves into the many facets of human sexuality. Drawing on her own biography, she explores how cultural repression and her life as a performer, a mother and a lover have shaped her sexual identity. What can we fall back on to bring buried parts of ourselves to the surface and how can we learn to listen to our own instincts and feelings in the midst of social constraints? Dana Michel is an artistic chameleon: among others awarded the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale 2017, her choreographies deal with different layers of identity, with humour and without resorting to physical stereotypes.
