Audiowalk on the essay ‘Laubwerk’ by Marion Poschmann, winner of the WORTMELDUNGEN-Literaturpreis 2021.
Based on the essay ‘Laubwerk’ by Marion Poschmann, for which the author was awarded “WORTMELDUNGEN – Der Literaturpreis für kritische Kurztexte der Crespo Foundation” in 2021, choreographer Moritz Frischkorn and sound artist Kat Austen have developed an audio-walk in-between and in dialogue with city trees. The audience is invited to playfully move from one tree to the next, following the voices, sounds and choreographic proposals by the artists. ‘The Gravity of Trees’ awakens childhood memories, pays close attention to individual trees and creates a space in which listeners may be affected by the presence and rhythm of the trees in their vicinity. While walking, they also hear excerpts from Poschmann’s essay, a poetic reflection on our coexistence with trees. Thus, a new sense of the interconnectedness and co-dependence of human and arboreal city dwellers emerges

Biography
Kat Austen
Kat Austen konzentriert sich in ihrer künstlerischen Praxis auf sozio-ökologische Fragestellungen, verschränkt unterschiedliche Disziplinen und Medien miteinander und entwickelt bildhauerische sowie multimediale Installationen, Performances und interaktive sowie kollaborative Werke. Austens Schaffen fundiert auf intensiver Recherche sowie theoretischer Untermauerung und wird von der Motivation getrieben, neue Wege in eine sozial gerechtere und nachhaltigere Zukunft zu finden. Neben ihrer internationalen Ausstellungstätigkeit unter anderem in der Bonhams Art Gallery, London, The Polar Museum, Cambridge und dem Kühlhaus, Berlin befinden sich ihre Arbeiten in privaten Sammlungen. Sie performt weltweit, zum Beispiel an der Opera North, Leeds, dem Fusion Festival, Berlin und dem Headlands Center for the Arts, San Francisco.
Biography
Moritz Frischkorn
Moritz Frischkorn arbeitet seit 2014 als Choreograf, Performer und Theoretiker im Feld zeitgenössischer darstellender Kunst. Seine künstlerische und kuratorische Praxis beschäftigt sich mit Choreografien von Dingen und ihren sozialen und politischen Dimensionen. Er erarbeitet forschungsorientierte Projekte und entwickelt dabei künstlerische Praktiken, die individuellen, menschlichen Ausdruck und westliche Privilegien hinterfragen. Im März 2021 promovierte er an der HafenCity Universität Hamburg mit einer Arbeit zum Thema „More-Than-Human Choreographies“. In den letzten Jahren hat er eine Reihe von eigenen Arbeiten präsentiert, u.a. „Barricades and Dances“ (2015), „Savoy“ (2017) und „Jakob K./Der Neue Mensch“ (2018, Ko-Autorschaft mit Heike Bröckerhoff und Jonas Woltemate). Zuletzt wurde seine interdisziplinäre Recherche-Arbeit „The Great Report“ zum Verhältnis von Choreografie und Logistik im Januar 2020 auf Kampnagel, Hamburg und im Oktober 2020 bei NODE20 – Forum for Digital Arts am Mousonturm in Frankfurt zur Aufführung gebracht.
