The Performance is the performance of an institution, namely The Institution. Duplicated, mirrored, simultaneously present on multiple stages, tightly interwoven with each other via theatre machinery and composition, fictive and real people and objects come face to face. The Performance is theatre, congress and concert: the audience encounters performers, a musician, as well as Frankfurt guests from the worlds of science and art in a walk-in set. Herbordt/Mohren question categories of art and culture, of life and work, of the environment surrounding them. The audience moves in a space, in which the quotation marks around the terms “Institution” and “Performance” are constantly present, even as they fade bit by bit: Is The Performance still a performance? Is The Institution still an institution? The Performance is a sophisticated play with categories and attributions.
