For much too long disabled bodies have mainly been used to represent Otherness. In “Dis_Sylphide”, choreographer and cultural activist Saša Asentić has assembled a team of people with and without disabilities, working together on equal footing to deal with aesthetic regimes of dance history. Three key works of the 20th century, which were created in Germany, but then revolutionized dance worldwide, serve as a starting point for the ensemble. Asentić and his team adopt this material with great empathy and expertise to develop a unique aesthetic and reclaim a place in dance history. “Dis_Sylphide” thus humorously and surprisingly overturns existing body norms and conventions and invites us to conquer the theatre as a place of alternative togetherness.
