Drugs kept me alive – Solo created for and with Antony Rizzi

Mousonturm Saal

Performance/Dance

Drugs kept me alive is a monologue about a survivor. A quick-witted tightrope dancer over a yawning abyss. A man, who has lived life to a full, always one step ahead of the scythe of death. His break-neck speed and his sense of humour are his secret weapons. His numerous accomplices carry such illustrious names as ecstasy, ketamine, GBH, poppers, speed, cocaine, or 2C-B, 2C-1, 2C-7. However, the only thing that really keeps him alive is his desire for intensity and ecstasy.
After 20 years of collaborating together, Jan Fabre now specially wrote this euphoric monologue for the exceptional performer Antony Rizzi.

Text, Direction, Scenography: Jan Fabre * With: Antony Rizzi * Dramaturgy: Miet Martens * Original Music: Dimitri Brusselmans * Costumes: Andrea Kränzlin * Production: Troubleyn/Jan Fabre in co-production with Maribor 2012 – European Capital of Culture.
