The matinee concert of Uwe Oberg and Silke Eberhard at Mousonturm is an intimate dialogue between two very free spirits. The pianist from Wiesbaden and the saxophonist and clarinettist from Berlin have been playing together for five years now. In 2016, their prize-winning CD “Turns” documented the duo’s first phase. Compositions by Carla Bley, Annette Peacock, and Jimmy Giuffre, as well as original works of their own referenced both 1960’s free jazz and the works of pianist Paul Bley. Meanwhile, Oberg and Eberhard have gone on to explore the vast fields of free landscapes, often as a trio with percussionist Gerry Hemingway. Their repertoire ranges from poetic songs to turbulent and complex cascades of sound.
