FREISCHWIMMER Ein.Küchen.Bau

Mousonturm Foyer

Performance/Installation

The “Frankfurt Kitchen” of architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky is the mother of all modern fitted kitchens. In 1926, the original design represented noble emancipatory motives. in Ein.Küchen.Bau, Joonas Lahtinen now uses audio-video material to explore the aesthetic and political dimensions of today’s mass product. The interactive staging of his fitted kitchen opens up unusual perspectives on everyday routines and industrial norms. The installation performance of Ein.Küchen.Bau at the opening of the festival will pay homage to rationalisation till the screwdrivers smoulder.  On every additional festival night, the Finnish performer will use his installation, which will remain open to the public throughout the entire festival, to prepare a broad range of controversial kitchen discourses and delicious instant meals.
