Labour in a single shot

Mousonturm Studio 1

Lecture/Film

The first camera in the history of cinema was aimed at a factory and in his reflections about film, documentary filmmaker Harum Farocki – who passed away in 2014 – returned to this very first film sequence over and over again. The subject of work was always present in his artistic oeuvre and in his films. For “Labour in a Single Shot”, artist and curator Antje Ehmann and Harun Farocki questioned, explored and filmed notions of work together with filmmakers and artists in 15 cities. In this lecture, Antje Ehmann presents and comments on a choice selection from their cinematic encyclopaedia of global labour conditions.
