The Egyptian singer, accordionist and songwriter Youssra el Hawary landed an overnight hit in 2012 with her song El Soor (The Wall) and went on to become one of the most prominent female voices of the protest movement at Tahrir Square. To this day, she speaks of current life in Egypt from a very personal perspective in her delicate folk songs and so reflects social and political change.
