During the first years of life, new premieres come thick and fast: sitting for the first time, crawling, jumping, climbing, grabbing, letting go, catching, kicking, smiling, frowning, sharing, making friends, feeling happy, thinking. To experiment with and explore our bodies and the world around us is best done through play. “Farbenspiele”, an interactive piece by Lithuanian choreographer Birutė Banevičiūtė, is packed with unexpected, colourful experiences, which motivate children to discover many new things about themselves and the world together with the dancer. An intense and exciting experience for the little ones: everywhere that the piece has toured to its young audience are loath to leave the stage after the performance.
