“Ferne Söhne” (“Distant Sons”) is the story of six teenage refugees, who have begun a new life in Germany. Adversities and violence drove them from their families and their home countries. Upon their arrival in Aachen, they were housed in youth centres as “orphans”. Here they have lived suspended between worlds: on the one hand, the memories of their childhoods, their families and their traumatic journeys; on the other hand, their dreams of a future in Germany.
