Ficção (Fiction) is a theatre marathon, in which single actors of the Companhia Hiato each tell us a little about their lives in individual one-hour monologues. In a highly astonishing, touching and masterful way, the individual performances and their narrative styles overlap and permeate one another. For these are five wonderfully foreign and simultaneously very familiar sounding, honest stories about coming of age, about vulnerability, emancipation, about finding and asserting oneself vis-à-vis family traditions and cultural descent. In monologue after monologue, the honest self-reflections with all their inner contradictions condense into a complex, poignant, and in many moments, breath-taking image of life in the hyper-postmigrant megalopolis São Paulo.
