When multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Donovan Copley first founded the band Hot Water in South Africa in 2006, it soon became an insider. Copley began to assemble a growing number of South African artists from various backgrounds. Hot Water had its major breakthrough playing at the Football World Cup in South Africa in 2010. Their unusual line-up of instruments, including slide didgeridoos and guitars made of old oil cans, combined with their signature mix of vibrant traditional African sounds, folk, blues, jive, pop and indie rock has made them cult material.
