Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm

Hölderlin’s early romantic Hyperion character oscillates between manic-depressive and hallucinatory euphoric conditions in his longing for a sublime world. His attempts at the harmonious union of art, nature, love, and revolution fail. Tired, Hyperion retreats to a Greek island to write letters. Ensemble Modern and the choreographers Kiriakos Hadjiioannou and Fabrice Mazliah assume this attitude. They create a performance in epistolary acts that, as an alienated adaptation of the novel, transforms the isolation of the hermit existence, the flight of intellect and desire as well as the idea of holding onto hope after failure into movement and sound.
