Kettly Noël

(Bamako/Port-au-Prince)

I do be like that (sometimes)

Mousonturm Studio 1

Work In Progress/Lecture-Performance

Kettly Noël is one of the most radical choreographers in the African world. Her works are fed by the complexity and contradictions of the realities that surround her, with a particular focus on the position of women. The starting point of her lecture performance “I do be like that (sometimes)” is a self-portrait. What begins as an analysis of her own life facts, develops into a multi-layered philosophical reflection, freely based on the chanson of the same name by Nicole Croisille “Who is the one? Who’s the other one? If everyone is different for someone, can they also be different for someone else?”

Session II – „Space, Urbanity, Street Vending (economies)“
