Frankfurt. 26 September 1913, TITANIA, Bockenheim. A German-Polish Jew, steps to the lectern and calls on the Frankfurt workers to prevent the outbreak of World War I with mass strikes: Rosa Luxemburg. Freedom fighter, enemy of the state, pacifist, terrorist, revolutionary – many names for a woman who still polarises. But which faces are hidden behind those names? Who was this woman who sought her way with power – at university, in the party, in love? What makes her a political figure of irritation to this day? From Rosa Luxemburg’s letters, articles, essays and speeches, Reinhard Hinzpeter has composed a play that aims to gain a deeper insight into this dazzling, life-hungry and powerful personality.
