Klasse Kinder!

Römerberg

Dance

Get to play air guitar right on Frankfurt’s Römerberg and be part of a dancing gang just for once? The performance collective LIGNA invites kids between age eight and twelve to participate in an extraordinary piece. Equipped with headphones, which feature an audio play that mixes stories and movement instructions, they conquer Frankfurt’s central square through dance as they test the ways in which a random motley crew moves without a leader. Inspiration for the piece comes from the 1966-deceased choreographer Jenny Gertz, an almost forgotten pioneer of modern dance and visionary in the field of working with children. In “Klasse Kinder!”, LIGNA gives Gertz a voice and reawakens her revolutionary ideas to life together with the children.

The piece “Klasse Kinder!” is the third Ensemble Mobil. Once a year, the Tanzplatform Rhein-Main invites dance makers to develop a piece that leaves the theatre space. The LIGNA project can be booked for individual performances by schools and other institutions in the Rhine-Main area.
