Tonia Reeh, also known as Monotekktoni, experimented in the past with modern controversial, analogous distorted and opulent electronic sounds. On her new album she combines acoustic pop music with classical modern without an aftertaste of sweet artificiality. Now and again, the emotional depth of her voice resembles those of artists such as PJ Harvey or Diamanda Galás. And her piano playing is unique: in spite of its combination of classical and jazzy elements, it is shaped by the rhythmic rigor of that independent rock music, which still inspires Tonia.
