Gregor McEwan’s debut album already attracted plenty of attention and critics have compared him with Ryan Adams and Glen Hansard. On his second LP Much Ado About Love, the singer-songwriter, who recently moved away from the rural idyll of his hometown to Berlin, broadens his musical spectrum. Acoustic guitar is joined up by powerful banjo pickings, potent drums, delicate electro samples. But it there is simply no way to drive the small-town romantic out of him. Dreamy string instruments are not to be missed. And again the subject is love in all shapes and sizes.
