Dagobert opens the second chapter in his storehouse of countless schmaltzy songs, written over five years in a lonely mountain hut in the Swiss Alps. While the self-titled debut still focused on the narration and eccentricity of this Swiss survival artist – an emigrant to Berlin – the new Afrika is a much more musical album. Reminiscences of 1950’s big band sound, of Chris Isaak, of remote film music and Nico’s gloomier songs all factor into an astounding bandwidth. Produced by current top producer Markus Ganter (Casper/ Tocotronic), Dagobert surprises us with illustrious guests such as Get Well Soon Gropper and Mille from Kreator. For the first time, Dagobert will be supported live on tour by a backing band.
