In his own words, Wolfgang Voigt is an “incurable Warholist”. Raised and socialized in the pop subculture of the 1970’s and 80’s, Voigt created his very own art-music-cosmos out of a wide range of different influences such as glam rock, pop, jazz, classical music, punk, new wave, pop art and “Wild Style” painting. GAS is his audio-visual ambient project: melancholy sound gushes out of heavily condensed sources of classical sources – sudden, endless and intoxicating in homogenous and partially formless structures. GAS is Voigt’s vision of a sound body somewhere between Schönberg and Kraftwerk, between French horn and bass drum – Hansel and Gretel on acid, Wagner goes glam rock. GAS takes you with him on a seemingly endless march through the undergrowth of a forest shrouded in fog.
