KURT WEILL JAGT FANTÔMAS – EIN MUSICAL mit Liedern von Kurt Weill

Mousonturm Saal

Musical Theatre

Fleeing from the Nazis, Kurt Weill reaches Paris in March 1933 with a sketch in his luggage for a ballad about France’s most brilliant and unscrupulous criminal of the time. In KURT WEILL JAGT FANTÔMAS (KURT WEILL CHASES FANTÔMAS) the composer and radio playwright Oliver Augst works with artist and singer Charlotte Simon (“Les Trucs”) and Parisian experimental musician Alexandre Bellenger following in Weill’s footsteps during this period of his stopover in Paris. Because it was here – in the “blind spot” between the Threepenny Opera and his famous Broadway hits – that he created songs and works that are virtually unknown. With special guest Brezel Göring live on stage, the cult Franco-German pop duo Stereo Total creates a collage of fiction and reality, quotations and assertions, Lotte Lenya and Anaïs Nin in an adventurous and illuminating story of the momentous encounter of Herr Weill with the amoral villain Fantômas.
