Lena has bought a house with her friend Kurt. It seems as if her greatest challenge is getting used to the new situation as a patchwork family – and to Brandenburg becoming her new home. Yet when Kurt’s young son suddenly dies, he leaves behind three adults, who have to relearn how to live. Sarah Kuttner tells the story of an entirely normal complicated family and what keeps them together, when the worst comes to pass. Her description of the tragedy is direct and light-handed, but at the same time deeply earnest, as only Sarah Kuttner can be. Her new novel “Kurt” is a declaration of love to all who have gone and all who stay.
