Performance

Students at Frankfurt’s University of Music and Performing Art present own variations of technology-based compositions. The stage productions were being developed in the course Music and Technology as part of the composition program at the University of Music and Performing Art under the guidance of Annesley Black and Julia Mihály. Music and Technology addresses tensions between human and machine and explores how phenomena of technological progress influence compositional processes. Current trends of digital sound production and media technology are being dealt with as well as historical examples of mechanical and analogue music instruments. In research, work analyses, and practical exercises the composition students address selected aspects of the theoretical field around music and technology. They examine structures and materials influenced by technology as well as forms of performative corporeality in combination with live operated sound synthesis.
