Singer Mari Kvien Brunvoll’s solo project caused a major stir in the Norwegian jazz scene, while also adding to her existing reputation at international festivals. Her musical spectrum ranges from jazz, electro pop, acoustic blues to folk music from various corners of the earth. Brunvoll – widely considered a real original, the like of artists such as Sidsel Endresen – performs alone, only surrounded by instruments such as the kalimba, kazoo and zither, as well as all kinds of electronic equipment to sample and distort her voice.
