In the early twentieth century, the twins Ida and Dolores are born in the heartland of Eastern European Judaism – presumably as boy and girl. After the Nazis deport her sister, Dolores makes her way alone to the German capital. With the help of forged papers, she relishes Berlin’s underground queer scene and dances for a living in the Wintergarten Varieté. Famous and admired for her beautiful legs, she gains access to circles of Nazi power to take relentless revenge on the perpetrators of the Holocaust. Tucké Royale, also known as a founding member of the BOIBAND and associated artist of Maxim Gorki Theatre’s Studio Я in Berlin, now comes to Mousonturm for the very first time! In “Dolores”, he merges the biographies of queer Jewish resistance fighters and contrasts the stereotypes of Jewish powerlessness and defencelessness with the unapologetic retribution of German guilt.
