Ana Lessing Menjibar experiments in her interdisciplinary practice with the transformative potential of flamenco in the context of contemporary dance and performance, interweaving bodies and sound compositions in multimedia installations. At the centre of her current research is the question of what body-based knowledge traditional dances – such as flamenco – hold, how these are carried forward, and how future-oriented concepts of the body and of society can emerge from it: how can spaces be created that experience of vulnerability and individual and collective wounds to be realigned? In this workshop she will give an insight into her practice and research.
