Nebenschauplätze Nr. 1: Das 20. Jahrhundert. Re-Enactment flüchtiger Erscheinungen

Mousonturm Saal

Theater

Hofmann&Lindholm operate a machine to reanimate shadows of the past and project them into the theatre space. Their medial reconstructions are based on historically documented situations that took place in interiors during the 20th century. This newest piece by the artist duo from Cologne steers both clearly and surprisingly towards the periphery in a single-minded way. Hofmann&Lindholm practice an obscure form of enlightenment: the machine extracts the superficial splendour from history, steals the luminosity from table, chair and humankind and solely follows the shadows that spawned a distinct event. Nebenschauplätze Nr. 1 is a masterstroke of transitory manifestations, a collection of brightly lucid snapshots, in which theatre is played and commented on as a mnemonic space (of projections).

Hannah Hofmann and Sven Lindholm implement interdisciplinary concepts, which oscillate between scenic, visual and acoustic art. In this manner, they have created various interventions in the cityscape, theatre performances, audio plays, lectures, installations and films with partners such as the Schauspiel Köln, Museum Ludwig, Frankfurter Kunstverein, PACT, FFT or Deutschlandradio Kultur since 2000. In addition, they have taught seminars, given workshops and delivered lectures at various institutions, academies, universities and international festivals.
