Personal Symphonic Moment

Mousonturm Saal

Choreography/Dance

Elina Pirinen’s Personal Symphonic Moment is a corporal, visual and textual overwriting and a dive into Dmitri Shostakovich’s 7th (Leningrad) Symphony. An unfaithful and yet faithful homage – or rather a personal appropriation of the piece, an autopsy of the symphonic corpse? Together with three dancers, an author and a lighting designer, Pirinen sets out in search of their own and universally personal symphonic moments and launches themselves into one danger after another regardless of the consequences as they flee from archaic primitivism into sentimentality, from pity into peaceful servility, from delusions of grandeur into the solace of essential looserness.
