Performance/Dance

How does one’s own physical and emotion state, in what way do external circumstances influence intimacy? Which indicators do we have to measure intimacy within a group? In Rudel (The Pack), Lisa Rykena, Philipp van der Heijden and four dancers examine various approaches towards comprehending the concept of intimacy, to free it from conventional social value judgements and give intimacy a new form and space that is relative to its surroundings. A movement is developed and included, its quality communicated and expanded. All this takes place in a web of simultaneously existing spaces. The performers differentiate between their own physical space, the relational space between two people and the actual existing space that they are in. In the process, they demonstrate how dependent intimacy is on one’s own state of being and on external circumstances.

The Tanzlabor_21 project ensembles offer participants the chance to develop a full-length piece in professional surroundings and so gather experience in process-oriented theatre work. With its project ensembles, Tanzlabor_21 aims to promote young artists in the region. Since 2007, Tanzlabor_21 has implemented ten project ensembles with students and graduates from Frankfurt and the surrounding area. This year’s PET project inspired and provoked Lisa Rykena and Philipp van der Hejden to apply their idea, which they had previously only implemented with two people, to a whole group of dancers.
