Die Weise von Liebe und Tod des Cornets Christoph Rilke

Mousonturm Saal

Tolle Künste/Choreography/Dance/Music

Rilke’s “Cornet” is an old love for Belgian choreographer and dancer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. This ‘short song in prose’ is a feverish literary dream in which all spheres are blurred: youthful zest for life and tragic gallantry; male characters and female images; language and rhythm. How does movement spring from breathe, from sound, speech and rhythm? Together, De Keersmaeker, dancer Michaël Pomero and flutist Chryssi Dimitriou explore the intermediary spaces in Rilke’s text on stage – the nuances revealed between male and female, the lyrical and the prosaic. Dance, music and poetry interact in a text-based performance, in which Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker herself lends voice to Rilke’s original German text.
