Session II – „Space, Urbanity, Street Vending (economies)“

Mousonturm Studio 1 & Lokal im Mousonturm

Lecture/Concert/Lecture-Performance

Under the term “Space, Urbanity, Street Vending (economies)”, the curators Arlette-Louise Ndakoze and Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung continue the series “Listen Attentively, So You Can See.” Their initial spark was a question that the philosopher Seloua Luste Boulbina phrased, and with which she seized on the post-colonial key text “Can the Subaltern Speak?” by Gayatri Spivak. “Can the non-subaltern hear and read?” asks Boulbina and thus reverses common points of view and knowledge production. “Listen Attentively, So You Can See” follows this thought and invites the South African urbanist Edgar Pieterse, the Haitian choreographer Kettly Noël and the Angolan performance artist Nástio Mosquito to talk about art, business, society and to perform – and to ask for an active listening.
