Journalists Philipp Krohn and Ole Löding are huge fans of pop music since growing up together in Hamburg. Eventually, they began sorting their record collections by place instead of alphabetically. From there, it was a fairly short step to the multi-media project Sound of the Cities. A Pop Music Expedition: for two years, they travelled the music capitals of the world and spoke with 160 musicians, producers and pop experts about the unique nature of their work – among them The Velvet Underground, Einstürzende Neubauten, Genesis, Faith No More, Kurtis Blow and Wir sind Helden.
