For the series “Voices of a City“, authors met people from Frankfurt and turned the stories of these real-life encounters into poetic texts: monodramas. The award-winning author Zsuzsa Bánk tells the story of a cemetery worker, whose sensitive powers of observation open up special perspectives. We get to know a gravedigger who felt extremely under pressure in his previous job as a delivery driver. It is only in his work at the cemetery that he seems to have found inner peace. He has a daily connection to something higher, which he cannot quite grasp, but still feel. His work does not lead him to doubt our existence, but calms him down. In her text, Zsusza Bánk raises the question of happiness: How much of it depends on our profession, how much is inherent in our own personality?
