One of the greatest icons produced by the label Warp Records over the last 25 years has returned: electronica pioneer George Evelyn aka Nightmares on Wax. His name still stands apart in electronic music history and never has his unique mixture of hip-hop and soul, of dub and club sounded quite as smooth and convincing as on his new album “Shape The Future”. At the same time, it is also much richer in sound, for Evelyn has called on fascinating musicians to join him, as well as banked on rich orchestration and haunting hip-hop suffused with gospel. The history of the American South rings out in this music, but, as the title suggests, shaping a better future may prove to be the greatest challenge.
