Dance films have experienced a real renaissance these last years. Reason enough to review the recent past and warm up for the Tanztag Rhein_Main on May 17 with classic films from the 1970’s and 80’s, documentaries and other funny or action dance scenes – visit Kellerman’s in the Catskill Mountains, watch young New Yorkers in the disco or a group of unemployed, but enterprising steel workers cultivate their fascination for the Chippendales, or tag along with an former Russian ballet star in exile, who is being extorted by the KGB. Rounded off by a documentation of urban dance styles, the dance film marathon brings together a widely range of exciting and entertaining films.
