A piano, a guitar and two masters of their craft. Terry Riley is one of the greatest composers of today and (co)founder of minimal music. For one of his exclusive concerts, he is coming to Mousonturm with his son. Just seeing the 81-year old doyen live on his own is highly impressive as he surprises us again and again with a unique blend of jazz, minimal, world music and rag time. His son Gyan Riley, likewise composer and superb guitar virtuoso, adds another exciting aspect to this experience: psychedelic-like sound waves, carried forwards by experimental jazz, broadened by the influences of Indian and African folklore – accompanied by Gyan’s guitar playing, which seamlessly blends in as if it has always been part of it all.
