Europe is shocked by the political situation in Hungary: Viktor Orbán remains in power for another term. His party, FIDESZ, has a two-thirds majority in the parliament. Hungarian theatre director and dramaturge Márton Gulyás and the group Krétakör (Chalk Circle) put things into perspective: in his lecture, Gulyás explains why the success of the FIDESZ is neither a symptom of Hungarian backwardness or sadomasochism, but rather a rational decision by the people and why we, the German taxpayers, bear responsibility for the results of the Hungarian parliamentary elections.
