Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm

Do you desperately need an alibi? Spanish artist Maria Jerez will provide you with one! At the Plateaux Festival in Mousonturm, she repeatedly demonstrated her ability to access performance spaces of her very own between theatre, cinema and radio. Now Maria Jerez takes the opportunity to make herself and her audience disappear. Nobody appears on stage. Instead, it is filled with a scene, on which text messages appear. In these messages, Maria Jerez addresses her audience, familiarizes herself with them and gradually transforms her absence into presence: “I disappear, in order to appear. I write, in order to disappear. When I write, I split myself in two and while I do so, the spectator lands between my thoughts and the text. That is where the story begins, an action film, a journey made all alone, in which time, space and perception unfold until in the end, nobody knows, who, when or where you are.”
