What do Frank Zappa, YouTube tutorials, colliding galaxies and one’s own room have in common? Klub_21’s first dance and performance project explores the phenomenon of the heap – including its own. The indefinable ideosyncrasy of heap formations are both the basis of Klub_21’s artistic research, as well as a starting point for looking at a social issue. In the production, the nine performers use e.g. assemblage, accumulation and permutation.

Klub_21 was founded by Tanzlabor_21 in August 2012 under the artistic direction of choreographer Wiebke Dröge. It offers teens and twens from age 14 to 24 a chance to get to know contemporary dance from an interdisciplinary perspective. The weekly meetings are laboratories in which artistic experience is taught, but also room given for the participants to experiment with ideas of their own. The course runs for over a year, during which there will be two public presentations.
