Time’s Journey Through a Room

Mousonturm Saal

Schauspiel/Theater

The devastating tsunami in March 2011 and the subsequent nuclear catastrophe of Fukushima have posed fundamental challenges for Japanese society. Despite all inconceivable grief and the feeling of collective failure, it felt as if the entire personal and social fabric now had the chance to be fundamentally reconsidered, reconceived. Time’s Journey Through a Room focuses on the grudge that the living now bear the dead: envying those, who died in the hopeful times after the catastrophe. For to this day, they embody the sense of a new beginning, which now seems unattainably lost. After their Frankfurt debut in 2014, author and director Toshiki Okada and his group chelfitsch return with their newest, sublime and precisely staged play to Mousonturm directly after their world premiere in Kyoto and the European premiere in Brussels.
